The Norsemen raiders captured by Bran earlier had been about to revolt until Gonar had summoned Kull to lead them. The Antedeluvian King is Kull of Atlantis, King of Valusia brought forward in time by the magics of Gonar ( an ancient Pictish wizard ) to aid the descendants of Brule Spearslayer,that is Bran Mak Morn. REH confesses in one of his letters that he was obsessed with the Picts and Scots always on the borders of the Roman Empire, the picts he describes are a misshapen ugly race from breeding with other races, only the kings and chieftains have kept the bloodlines pure.
